Maths Counting Collections

In Maths we have been learning to count and organise collections efficiently. The children are now making 3 collections and ordering them from smallest to largest. You may like to practise this at home using objects from around the house such as pegs, pasta, buttons, lego pieces, match box cars, tooth picks or any other concrete materials you may have.

  1. Teachers, can you help me to understand why, when I ask my son to eat 5 pieces of carrots, he can't seem to count to five... but when I ask him to eat 5 M&M's he seems to have no trouble counting at all?
